Daphne the 2 Year Old

Daphne's birthday package from Grandma, Grandpa, Lizzy and Lisa made it and Daphne loved opening, playing, wearing, and toting around everything!  I just wanted to add a picture of her with her loot and say Thank You!!
(the sun was sure shining in Pittsburgh that day...a miracle!)

Daphne had a great 2nd birthday.  She is such a fun little girl who loves hopping around the house.  Thanks for all the birthday wishes!

Daphne's wearing her birthday dress from Aunt Amy...so cute!

Amy also sent a tiara which Daphne likes wearing as a sun visor...she closed her eyes on purpose for this picture.

Shopping Spree

I decided to be a nice mom and let the kids actually have the money they got for Valentine's Day from Janet and Maggie and Charles, rather than deposit it into their "college savings" account.
They were ecstatic.  Riley was a smart shopper and spent wisely.  She got some beads from Hobby Lobby and some little eraser things that are all the rage at school.  I swear, I've never seen a kid so excited about erasers!  She still has $10 burning a hole in her pocket.  She's contemplating how she will spend it.
Macie and Charlotte aren't the smartest consumers, but I bit my tongue and let them buy what their little hearts wanted (although I did steer them toward the 50% off jewelery at Children's Place).

The loot: sunglasses and necklaces from Children's Place, little cell phone lip gloss thingies from that cheap tween jewelery store that every mall has, and hand sanitizer and little holder things from Bath and Body.  Again, so much joy from the weirdest things.  Charlotte is a bit obsessed with sanitizer.  She bought three.
They had no control.  They wanted to buy everything.  Hopefully the experience was worth it, cause I can guarantee the sanitizer will be gone in two days, the sunglasses probably broken in a week or two, and the cell phone things already came apart!
In any case, THANK YOU, Janet and Maggie and Charles.  They were thrilled.  :)

Oh, and a note on the sunglasses.  Charlotte knew for a week that she was going to buy sunglasses because her old pair broke last week.  I told her we'd go yesterday, but we didn't make it.  Last night she said, in a very serious and worried voice, "But what if it is sunny tomorrow?"

More hair...

Daphne's first haircut...she didn't move or make a single peep the whole time...she looks terrified!

Final result

It was sunny, so Scott climbed in the window to soak it in like a cat, and of course, the boys followed.

Overnight at the Zoo

Last weekend, Felix and I stayed overnight at the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium with his Cub Scout pack.

Felix really loves animals and scouting and had a great time. He was always very eager to pet or hold any of the animals he could.

The pictures below depict one of the biggest highlights for him, which was when he got to hold a baby sea turtle. When it's fully grown, it will be even bigger than he is!

The highlight for ME came Sunday morning. Felix asked me if he would get to see the animals the handler was going to show the boys that morning, and I told him I wasn't sure because we were going to have to leave by 8:30 for Church.

Felix then proceeded, unaided, to approach the handler, tell her he had to leave early, and ask her if he could see the animals before we had to leave. She obliged by inviting Felix and just a couple other boys who were also leaving early to their own separate, early viewing. He got to see and pet an armadillo, a snake, a gecko, and a hedgehog. I was proud of his confidence and maturity.

Also shown below is the baby Alligator the handler showed us, and a picture from "behind the scenes" above the shark tank.

February in KY

Valerie helped Riley and Macie make these awesome Ladybug Valentine boxes.

Yes, we finally cut Carver's hair. It was sad to see his curls go, but they were getting a little unruly. And we can always try and grow them back out, right?

Everyone LOVED having aunt Amy here! We experienced Aunt Amy withdrawl when she left.

Charlotte was so excited to have Aunt Amy here for a pre-birthday celebration!

Handful of wedding pix

I only shot a handful of pictures at the wedding. I was so excited to have Margie as the official historian. Here are a couple I shot.

Riley's eye

I'm home with a shaved chest marked with a giant "YES" in Sharpie marker and a bicep that looks like the Weasel's home-ec sewing project (sounds like one of Todd's old frat parties), so I figured I'd finally post some wedding pictures.

The first batch I'm calling "Riley's Eye," because they are pictures she snapped while wandering not-so-aimlessly around the reception with my camera in hand. Welcome to "Riley's Eye."

Birthday Party Insanity

This was what Felix's 7th birthday party looked like pretty much from start to finish. This may be the last one we host.
