Terrible Twos

Macie turned two yesterday and automatically turned into a deamon. It was a little too ironic that she was a sweet little princess on Friday, then the spawn of Satan on Saturday (her birthday). These pictures are from the party we had at Valerie's parents yesterday. Macie just happens to share a birthday with Grandpa Madsen. Be impressed by the Barbie cake that Valerie slaved over, too.

Crazy Boyz

This is Felix sliding down his makeshift fireman's pole at the park.

Rex put on his fireman's hat and was making his best fire siren sounds.
Rex chugging toothpaste while reading a book in the buff.

I just jumped on the blog for the first time in a long time and found an array of new photos and stories, so I thought we should contribute something new, too. Here are the boys in action.

Crazy Boyz Part II

Felix is our little engineer. He was fascinated by the wheels, pedals and chain system on Scott's bike and stared at it for a really long time as he made the wheel turn by pushing the pedals. He had a million questions as to why it worked like it did.

Here are the boys in the stroller on the way to the park...post-popsicle.

Felix at the park.

The boys at the park actually being nice to each other for a minute.

Felix making a face, just in case you hadn't already figured that out.

Crazy Boyz Finale

Here we are at Niagara Falls. Does someone look sleepy?

Here are Felix, Rex and Grandpa Richardson walking through the Sacred Grove in Palmyra.

Scott and the boys reading on the floor.

This is what Rex's hair looks like when smothered in ice cream.

Rex just chillin' and eating some corn.

"Charlie bit me!"

Drew sent me this video, and it was too cute/funny not to share! Maybe in the future we'll have our own "Charlie" videos to post (although, hopefully minus the biting!). Enjoy a good laugh today, courtesy of me (and Drew)!

Also, I'd like to dedicate this video to our very own birthday girl Magret Louise (aka Maggie)!! We will possibly be posting pictures from our festivities, although I have to tell you in advance that there won't be any party hats or carousels involved...just two fine ladies out for a birthday meal, and a piece of cake from Albertson's!

Mile High

Here are a few pictures from our trip to Denver. We had an early B-Day celebration for Macie so Gma and Gpa could sufficiently spoil her. I finished my class today and we will be driving home on Saturday. We have had a great time!

Et tu, Brute

I jump on the blog to post some pix from a leisurely weekend in Idaho and to catch up on family business and I am confronted with images so disturbing that I wept like a child for an hour. No, they weren't pictures of Todd in a Speedo thong, but rather photos from a food illustration for Classico! Curse that savory italian goodness!  My brother is outsourcing photographic skill?  Food illustrations no doubt.  Hold on, I have to roll over, this dagger in my back is killing me!  You don't see me running around starting my own line of condiments do you?  I consider it the same level of betrayal.  Luckily, I'm willing to forgive and forget, just as long as Scott doesn't tell me how much they paid for those photos.  Then I'll Definitely need a sedative.

Welcome to Idaho. Feel Free to Breed.

Here is a report from the Salt Lake Johnson's pilgrimage to Idaho, a state where the zygote should be the state symbol. After attending church and wading through the sea of young 'uns, I came to realize that if all those little ankle-biters get together and there's an uprising, the adult population is toast. I've never seen so many children in my life. I've seen the movie Children of the Corn, and I think Children of the Potato is a realistic sequel. You know the state's population is young when 72 hour kits consist of a binkie and a #10 can of Similac. And those are just for Todd. I digress.

We had an AMAZING time with Todd, Valerie and the girls. You can see from the pictures that Bubba and The Weasel were quite drawn to their cousins. Bubba held Chucky (Charlotte's official nickname...for now) so long, it started to resemble a planned parenthood ad. She was pretty quick to relenquish the child when Chucky made unhappy baby noises. I thought we were going to have to come up with a King Solomon type solution to get Bub and the Weas to share the baby. I was fully prepared to get out the cleaver, but Valerie seemed opposed to the idea. Go figure. You'll notice in one of the photos that Bubba took the time to begin training Macie how to text message. A skill that will undoubtedly shape the course of her life....and make Todd COMPLETELY gray.

As expected, Riley and Macie are as adorable and energetic (P.C. term for CRAZY) as ever. It took about 30 minutes for them to warm up, but after that it was non-stop bonding. The Weasel is already planning her week-long trip to Idaho Falls this summer. As you can see, Riley was not shy around the camera. In fact, at one point I just gave her my business card and told her she'd have to contact me when I got back to SLC so I could quote her some prices if I was going to be her personal photographer any longer. Hollywood look out.

I think the highlight of the weekend was when I demonstrated my trampoline prowess. It only took a few botched attempts and a broken pinkie toe to perfect my back flip. Not to be outdone, you can see from the pictures that Todd went for a couple of flying splits and has a pulled groin to remind him of how much fun we had.

Hopefully we'll be able to return in June for the actual blessing. I'm fully prepared to abduct a couple of cute girls when we leave. I'd steal Chucky too, but I can't seem to muster any lactation. Apparently not enough calcium in my diet.

Hope everyone's well. Our trip reminded me also of the family reunion. Wish we didn't have to wait a year.

Goofy post

What is my problem? I finally figured how to add pictures to the blog, but what's with the goofy text on the side and on the bottom?? I'm too lo-tech to know how to fix it!

Out of the House!

Was out and about yesterday attending the "Celebration" for the library book donation at Doris French School where I taught for 16 years. I had helped weed the outdated books and wanted desperately to attend...a friend picked me up. I should have read the new book "Avoiding Injuries" before I went to CA! You get the full picture of my injuries when you see me with my boot!

Blessing Postponed

So we didn't bless Charlotte over the weekend as I'm sure everyone is aware. Gma and Gpa J were unable to make it past Cheyenne on Friday as I-80 was closed due to a BLIZZARD (On May 1 for crying out loud!) They were willing to drive up on Saturday, but we decided to postpone the blessing until the first weekend in June so they could spend more time out of the car than in. Everyone who doesn't have plans that weekend is invited to attend. Hopefully there won't be any blizzards in June.

Keith and the girls, who were planning on coming for the blessing, still came up on Saturday and we had a great time. Riley and Macie have had withdrawals since they left and Charlotte is wondering why we don't hold her as much as Kacie and Jamie. Keith took some fun pictures so I asked him to post them when he has a minute. Keith even left with a war-wound from the trampoline and scarred ego from being whopped in ping-pong and Wii Tennis. I let him win a few games so he would come back in June.
