More reunion info

After posting the first blog about the reunion, I’ve been thinking that maybe 2 big activities in one day would be too much. It would be a long day for the little ones and they wouldn’t have anywhere to take a nap. We’ve been told that Jackson Hole is only about an hour away from where we’re staying, so we could do one activity Thursday and one Friday. Amy also asked about hiking which Valerie suggested earlier. Are you interested? We don’t have to do everything together. I just wanted to see who was interested in the river/raft trip and the chuck wagon dinner so we can make reservations.

I am kind of confused about the rafting trip. I have done the white water trip quite a few times and it is great, but probably not for Riley and Felix. It can be a little adventerouse. SInce I have done it many times, I would be more than willing to stay home that day with the kids so all the adults could go. I have never done the scenic trip, and it is the one that says it's ok for 3 and up. It didn't say where it was...I know all the white water runs down Hoback Junction; maybe the scenic if further up stream or something. Anyway, it is up to you guys. I think you would all enjoy the white water. I would still like to hike Table Rock Mountain. It would be an all day activity for those participating. Maybe from 8am -4pm. We would take up lunches to have on top. I still need to look into the specifics of the trail head to the location of the reunion. I'll post again tonight with some pictures.

I was wondering why you had to ask if a Johnson was interested in dinner, of course we are interested in dinner. You might have to ask the grandchildren, but the adults????

I was hoping Felix could go on the scenic rafting trip, but since he's too young, we'll opt out of that. Is there a railroad that gives train rides anywhere close to where we'll be? That would be something Mr. Felix would love. I'm still interested in a hike and the chuckwagon sounds yummy. Other than that, we'll probably spend a lot of time at the pool. And, Grandma and Grandpa, you can have my children for the duration of the reunion!

Keith mentioned the other day that he might be able to talk Trevor's dad into taking the ‘boys’ out fishing one day. Keith, let us know if this is still a possibility. I also thought of renting a few ATVs, but Valerie put the kibosh on that idea pretty quick.

Is there a pool in Afton?
Another option would be to float the river at Max Inn. this is a very low key float that all could do. We would have to come up with some tubes and rafts. I did this at a family reunion way back when. I'll try to find out more, but it's not a guided thing or anything. Very relaxing. Slow. Shallow. Scenic.
The trail head to the hike is by Driggs, Idaho, about an hour and a half drive from Afton, so the hike would be all day. It is hard, but the best day hike you will ever do. -Valerie

Yes. four wheelers would be even more dangerous than a 3-year-old on a white water rafting trip.
As far as activities go, we will probably most enjoy just sitting, talking and eating together. -Val

If anyone (Todd and Valerie?) has any camping equipment (tent and a couple bags) they can bring, Margie and I are interested in camping out one night of the reunion, possibly either with or without the kiddies, depending on circumstances. Do you know of any campsites nearby, Valerie? Or maybe we just camp on the cabin property?

I really have no expereince or knowledge of the Afton area. I've just ben thinking about the fun things I've done in the past, but they are all in the Jackson/Teton area, which is about an hour and a half north. My only advice would be to google it.
