There was a local on the beach digging for crabs in the sand for his grandkids. He was nice enough to let us play with one (see bucket). It reminds us of one of our favorite books, "Billy's Bucket".
Felix's favorite thing was splashing in the big waves. Every day he asked to do specifically that.
Scott and Felix looking for sea shells.
Rex was having a major teething episode for much of the trip. This was the face he mostly wore.

Great pictures! It looks like it was an amazing vacation. How far away is that from Pittsburgh?
Thanks for sharing! What a cute little family! I loved the story about Felix and the sharks in the 3-D movie...too funny! Looks like you guys had a way good time!
Looks like a great time was had. Grandma told me to check out the pictures while at work. I visited Virginia Beach on several occasions during the 9 months I spent in Norfolk. I was there in March of 1962 during a Northeaster storm that you can Google, it had hurrican force winds and something like a 9 - 10' storm surge. I have also played touch football on p-day on the beach there. The comment about the military jets taking off in the area brought back memories. The Navy jets practice taking off of carriers there (without being on a carrier) complete with catapults. It is rather spectacular to see them take off and go screaming skyward, and those were F-4 Phantoms not the faster F-16's and F-18's they fly now. I get goosebumps just thinking about it.

In addition to the jets, we saw, while on Virginia Beach, the Navy doing a training session in the water. A chopper hovered just above the water, 5 men (or dummies, couldn't tell if they were real) jumped (or were thrown) into the water, then a Navy boat came and the men/dummies were hooked to a line on the helicopter, which lifted them up, flew multiple circles around with this string of men dangling below, then hovered back over the water where the men/dummies were transferred to the boat. It was quite a sight.
It looks like you were right in front of Cousin Robs Condo in one of the pictures. I certainly hope it was warmer in the water than it was a month ago when I was in Virginia Beach.
